As provided for in the local bylaw and subject to Provincial legislation, any vehicle used by a person upon any highway in a participating municipality which is a commercial vehicle defined as such and licenced under the commercial transport act, and any vehicle not so licenced, but which is used for the collection or delivery or both of goods, wares, merchandise, or other commodity, in the ordinary course of a business undertaking, is required to obtain and display a valid Commercial Vehicle Licence.
A Commercial Vehicle Licence purchased in any participating BC municipality is valid in Richmond.
Licences may be purchased at City Hall, 6911 No. 3 Road in Richmond.
Fees are calculated by gross vehicle weight and range from 25 to 40 dollars. Gross vehicle weight is obtained from the vehicle registration form. Fees are payable at the time of purchase by cash, cheque, or debit card.
To purchase licences at City Hall the vehicle insurance registration papers, and a completed Commercial Vehicle Licence Application Form are required.
Commercial Vehicle Licences are valid from January 1st to December 31st.
Farm Vehicles, and specified vehicles operated by schools, religious institutions, or government agencies are exempt from this bylaw.
