Richmond Community Services Advisory Committee

The City’s Richmond Community Services Advisory Committee (RCSAC) is a roundtable of 20 to 30 community service agency representatives that advises Richmond City Council on social policy and community service matters. Members also share information and ideas about issues of common interest and identify emerging needs at monthly meetings.

Most RCSAC members are community service agency representatives appointed by the member organizations, typically the Executive Director or Program Manager. Interested individuals may also become a members. There are two Council-appointed citizen positions of two-year terms and the City also provides a Council liaison and a staff liaison as non-voting members.

RCSAC provides advice to Council which can be initiated either by specific Council referral, whereby Council passes a motion requesting RCSAC advice or by the RCSAC wishing to advise Council regarding matters raised by members, stakeholders or the community. The RCSAC’s work program is based on Council Term Goals to ensure that advice is provided on Council-identified priorities.
