Arterial Road Policy

Richmond Arterial RoadThe City has permitted densification along its arterial roads since the 1999 Official Community Plan (OCP) was adopted.  This densification includes compact lots (e.g., 9 m or 30 ft. wide lots) and coach house development with a rear lane as well as townhouses without a rear lane.  The purpose of this densification is to locate development where there is transit service and to direct it away from the internal single family neighbourhoods which are not located on arterial roads.  The City has reviewed and refined this policy over the years, including as part of the 2041 OCP Update.
