All community centres are open regular weekend hours plus select community centres are now open on public holidays! This is a great chance to come in for a workout with friends and family. Use your Total Fitness Pass at select centres on public holidays for no extra fee.

Fitness Centre Overview
BCRPA registered staff can provide fitness and wellness advice for the beginner to advance participant. Fitness assessments and personalized programs can be booked through the Fitness Coordinator.

The 3,500 square foot fitness centre features state of the art fitness equipment including 7 flat screen TV's and 13 cardio TV's.

We have added additional space upstairs to our Mezzanine Fitness area which was officially opened in August 2015! We have installed a stretching and core area (includes mats, foam rollers, bands, weights, fitness balls) with the following equipment:

    Fitness Fees
    Thompson Community Centre offers a number of options for accessing fitness programs, including paying a drop-in fee or purchasing a visit card or fitness centre pass, as well as offering programs for registration. See the Fitness Fees section for more information.

    Fitness Centre Orientation 
    Book an orientation to the Fitness Centre with a BCRPA registered Weight Trainer and learn proper techniques for equipment use and Fitness Centre etiquette. Call 604-238-8434 to book an appointment.

    Youth Orientation
    Youth aged 13-15 years of age must complete a youth orientation, demonstrate appropriate maturity level and have a PDF Document parental consent form signed prior to Fitness Centre access. Youth orientations can be booked by calling the centre of your choice, and need only be completed once for eligibility to exercise at all centres. Youth aged 16 and 17 are optional for youth orientations, but must have a parental consent form signed.

    PAR-Q+ (The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire for Everyone)
    When you take part in any fitness activity at a City facility you will be asked to either complete a PAR-Q+, read the large poster version of the form, or to confirm you have completed the online version of the questionnaire, or complete and print the form here PDF Document Par Q Questionnaire. This form is designed to identify people for whom a change in physical activity may pose a risk.

    All Thompson personal trainers have met or have exceeded the standards set out by the BCRPA, the provincial registration and governing association for fitness leaders in BC. This team of highly qualified personnel can help achieve a wide variety of health, fitness and training goals.     Pre-Natal Yoga
    Prepare for childbirth with gentle yoga postures and breathing techniques. Suitable for women in all trimesters. Classes are led by a Fit 4 Two trained Instructor. Drop-in available.

    Pre-Natal Fitness
    Connect with other moms-to-be while reducing prenatal discomforts like lower back ache, fatigue and swelling. This multi-level class includes pregnancy-safe cardio exercise, functional strength training, flexibility and relaxation. All trimesters welcome. Fit 4 Two classes are taught by Certified Pre and Postnatal Fitness Specialists and BCRPA Registered Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) guidelines are followed. Drop-in available.
