Richmond’s Winter Break event details now online in one location

Enhance the magic of the holidays with 20+ Winter Break events and programs happening in Richmond, on now through January 2, 2017. To make planning even easier, all event details can now be found in one place – www.richmond.ca/winterbreak.

From indoors to outdoors, one day to ongoing, there are a wide variety of activities and events to choose from, including taking a free 15 minute tour of a Britannia Shipyards building, free admission for children to the Olympic Experience at the Richmond Olympic Oval, swimming at Watermania, the Longest Night Outdoor Celebration at Richmond Nature Park and the Cultural Conflation exhibit at the Richmond Art Gallery.

Events specific to Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day include:

  • A matinee screening of the movie, White Christmas – Saturday, December 24, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Minoru Place Activity Centre.
  • Christmas Day at City Centre – Sunday, December 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Centre Community Centre. Preschoolers can play and adults can work off holiday meals, or just read and relax in the Community Living Room.
  • Tim Horton’s Charity Skate at the Oval – Sunday, January 1, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Free skate admission with food donation to support the local food bank. The skate includes free coffee, hot chocolate and Timbits, plus a family New Year’s countdown.
