City extends deadline for free Spray Valve Replacement Program for Richmond businesses with commercial kitchens

27 October 2016

The City of Richmond is excited to announce that the Free Pre-Rinse Spray Valve Replacement Program deadline has been extended until Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

With support from FortisBC, the City is offering all establishments with commercial kitchens free replacement high efficiency spray valves, new faucet aerators and an Opportunities Assessment to identify other savings. Any Richmond business with an existing pre-rinse spray valve already installed in their establishment is eligible for the program.

High efficiency pre-rinse spray valves offer an easy way to save on water and energy costs. High efficiency pre-rinse spray valves and aerators can reduce average water consumption by over 500,000 litres, and save your business $200 to $600 per year in water and energy costs.

The City of Richmond has set aggressive goals to reduce water consumption, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions. By launching the Spray Valve Program, the City is testing innovative technology which, alongside a free Opportunities Assessment, can help businesses reduce their water and energy spending, as well as their overall environmental footprint.

Any Richmond business with an existing pre-rinse spray valve already installed in their establishment is eligible for the program. The free high efficiency pre-rinse spray valves are only offered as replacements. Please note that the program is available until November 30, 2016 and that free high efficiency pre-rinse spray valves, faucet aerators, and Opportunities Assessments are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. All participating establishments are required to confidentially share the information requested on the registration form to FortisBC and the City, to effectively administer  and evaluate the program’s impacts on water use, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
