Richmond adds still more financial reporting awards
Jan 26 2016
The City of Richmond continues its excellence in financial reporting by winning a pair of awards from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. It’s the sixth straight year that Richmond has received dual accolades for its annual reports.
The City produces two documents pertaining to its annual report. The official, longer-form annual report meets statutory financial reporting requirements established by the Province of BC. The annual report highlights document is a shortened version of the official report and is designed for broader public distribution.
Richmond received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the 13th consecutive year for its 2014 annual report. The City also received the association’s award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the sixth year in a row for its 2014 annual report highlights document. Richmond won this award by achieving program standards in creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal.
The financial reporting award program, established by the Government Finance Officers Association, encourages municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports, and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.
The awards were formally presented to Council at its meeting on Monday, January 25. The reports are available online to view on the City website www.richmond.ca/cityhall/finance/reporting/reports or from City Hall upon request.
