Richmond’s City Centre Community Centre turns one

07 September 2016

City Centre Turns OneCome out and celebrate City Centre Community Centre’s first birthday with a fun, free, family-friendly drop-in style event from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 11. The party for Richmond's first urban community centre will include live entertainment and a chance to try a range of free programs and activities that showcase some of the many arts, dance, fitness, music and physical activity programs that are offered at the centre for people of all ages, abilities and interests.

“Over the last 12 months, I have witnessed the birth and growth of our new community centre.  In terms of usage, programming and profile in the community, all my expectations have been exceeded,” says Paige Robertson, President of the City Centre Community Association. “City Centre Community Centre has been a perfect complement to not only Lang Centre, but to all of Richmond. I tip my hat to our hard-working, innovative and dedicated staff and board members. They have made everything possible.”

The event at City Centre Community Centre, located at #105-5900 Minoru Boulevard, includes magician “Doktor Strange” Stephen Kaplan, Latin Funk dance, a ukulele sing along, an arts hub, a preschool play zone, a preteen and youth karaoke and games party, as well as free access to the fitness centre.
