Christmas Goes to the Opera at Minoru Chapel

29 November 2016

The festive spirit will fill one of Richmond’s most beloved heritage buildings this December with the third concert of the 2016 fall Minoru Chapel Opera series. City Opera Vancouver returns to Minoru Chapel on Wednesday, December 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. with an exciting program of melodies and ensembles from the musical stage, opera and the home hearth.

The audience will enjoy familiar, classic holiday songs as well as a few delightful surprises – all guaranteed to fill you with holiday cheer. The audience will be taken on a yuletide journey– from Puccini to Menotti led by Elaina Moreau, soprano, and Spencer Britten, tenor, and accompanied by pianist, Roger Parton and host, Tom Durrie.

The two concerts will be held at the historic Minoru Chapel, located at 6540 Gilbert Road in Richmond (next to the Gateway Theatre.) Admission is $20 for adults and $18 for students and seniors. Seating is limited and tickets can be purchased at the door (cash only) or, as recommended, in advance by calling 604-276-4300. Please provide course code #1716488 for the 2 p.m. show, or #1716489 for the 7 p.m. show. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to show time. Minoru Chapel is wheelchair accessible.

City Opera Vancouver is a professional chamber opera company that tells wonderful stories in small forms. They have produced over 40 concerts and recitals including the world premiere of Pauline, Margaret Atwood’s first opera, with music by Tobin Stokes and The Lost Operas of Mozart, three works that the great composer began but never finished. In 2017, Missing Women, they will tell a story everyone knows, from the perspective of a woman no one remembers.
