Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie will deliver his Annual Address on Friday, February 12 at a special Richmond Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The Mayor will highlight the City of Richmond’s significant progress in 2015 and look forward to upcoming highlights.
Titled “Building Our Future”, the Mayor’s Annual Address will focus on the City’s progress in achieving Council’s 2015-2018 Term Goals, including:
- the ongoing development boom in Richmond with $1 billion in new construction started in 2015, an all-time record;
- the City’s ambitious capital building program with $100 million in new infrastructure and building budgeted for 2016;
- a record year in local filming, with several major motion pictures and TV shows undertaking substantial filming in Richmond; and
- significant expansion of the City’s parks and recreation amenities to service the growing community
Mayor Brodie will also focus on a number of challenges facing the city, including concerns about the plans for the replacement of the George Massey Tunnel, use of farmland for port expansion and industrialization of the Fraser River Estuary.
The Mayor will be joined by other City councillors, who will each host a table of luncheon attendees.
“It is our pleasure to host this popular annual luncheon for our members for the third straight year.” said Rob Akimow, Chair of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. “This event provides an opportunity to hear City Hall’s priorities for the coming year, and explore opportunities in which we can constructively work together for the betterment of the Richmond businesses and the community-at-large.”
The Mayor’s Annual Address will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 in the new ballroom of the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, 7551 Westminster Highway. Tickets are available at www.richmondchamber.ca or by calling 604-278-2822.
