Spectacular showcase of orchids set for Richmond Nature Park

The unparalleled beauty, complexity and diversity  of one the world’s most beloved flowers will be showcased at Richmond Nature Park’s first ever Orchid Show Saturday, May 28.

Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., visitors enjoy the colourful variety of these unique and fragrant flowers, all in full bloom. Be sure to enter the draw for a chance to win your own Phalaenopsis orchid compliments of Richmond’s Garden in Gardens Nursery. The Nursery has also donated orchids for sale with all of the profits benefitting the Richmond Nature Park Society and the Richmond Orchid Club.

Two workshops will be offered during the show. “Orchids for Beginners” includes basic care tips with each participant receiving a flower to take home. For those with some growing experience, bring a non-flowering orchid to the “Repotting Phalaenopsis Orchids” workshop and learn about repotting, watering and pruning. Potting medium and a pot provided. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. The Orchid Show is presented by the Richmond Orchid Club whose goal is to promote orchid culture, education and conservation among club members and the public.
