Cast your vote for the Richmond's art column contest People’s Choice award

23 June 2016

Richmond’s No. 3 Road art column contest recently closed and now it is time for the public to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award by “liking” their favorite poster design on the City of Richmond’s Facebook page ( Voting will be open from Monday, June 13 to Sunday, June 26.

The No. 3 art column contest is a unique opportunity for the public to contribute to public art. Last month, the City of Richmond posed a challenge to the public to create imaginative poster designs that reveal how the arts impact everyday life. Metro Vancouver residents rose to the occasion and submitted over 40 imaginative and visually-inspiring submissions.  The selected works of art will be displayed this coming fall on the City’s public art columns located outside the Aberdeen and Lansdowne Canada Line stations.

The art submissions focused on a range of themes, such as health and well-being to personal connection and happiness. They highlight the impact the arts can have on an individual and/or community. The colourful designs celebrate creativity and the integral role the arts play in the diversity and vibrancy of our community.

An arms-length jury made up of five community members, artists and arts professionals will select the 12 winning poster designs to be displayed. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a special prize.

The No.3 Road art column contest winners and the people’s choice will be announced the week of June 27, 2016.
