Community Association Opportunities

Community Development Coordinator

Reporting to the Community Facilities Coordinator and the Community Association; the Community Development Coordinator plans, coordinates and produces special events, identifies and pursues funding opportunities, manages volunteers, creates and implements marketing and community strategies. This position helps to build relationships between West Richmond Community Centre and people in our community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in design, plan, coordination, implementation and evaluation of special events.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate volunteers for programs, special events and projects.
  • Plan, design and coordinate marketing materials and promotions.
  • Create and design media relations.
  • Identify and create funding opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with community organizations.
  • Supports the Community Association Board of Directors to implement and facilitate community forums, task forces, meetings and presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 graduation plus completion of a diploma in marketing and communication or special event or related field, and two years experience in marketing and communication, special event planning, volunteer management budgeting, and funds development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Interpersonal and conflict skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher.
  • Police Information Check.
  • Standard or Emergency First Aid & CPR.
  • B.C. Driver’s license.

Assets

  • Social Media and graphic design experience (experience with Adobe software preferred).
  • Grant writing experience.
  • Experience with supervision of staff and volunteers.

Hours

  • 14 hours/week (flexible schedule, some evening and weekends required).

Compensation

  • Wage: $22.86 – $24.26 (based on experience).
